"What happens when a great winery has odd lots of this and that, knows it’s all good, but doesn’t really know what to do with it?
Blend it together, give it a funny name and charge a fair price.
The last part is rather rare, because most California wineries would rather give it an
Olde European name, a fancy label and charge
the customer over $40 a bottle. Not Jest Wines. |

What we have here is a great, lip-smackingly delicious red wine that doesn’t even
try to be pretentious. It just tastes great!
Zin fans, Petite Sirah fans,
fans of the Red, White and Blue - you need to taste this.
It’ll take you back to the days when American wine tasted great and didn’t require a second mortgage.
Most of all, it will bring a big, giddy smile to your face."

Winemaker notes:
Jest Red...fun? Did you say that wine could be fun? I thought wine was all
about being snobby and trying to match just
right cardamom spice in your Hungarian stew with the
spice from the aftershave you wore to match your Serbo-Croatian Slavic Mali?
NOT!
Wine can be uncomplicated, appreciated and fun all at the same time! Take the restrictive chains of varietal and vintage off a winemaker and let his
blending imagination and palate go wild. |
Escape the boring drudgery of serious, tannic monsters
that may or may not come around in 15 years (quick-- where were you 15 years ago
and what were the wines you had back then??). This wine is blended
with TLC to drink NOW…recommended aging time is the time it takes to
get from the store to your cork puller at home.
Yes, you can get great fruit characters off the nose like
blueberries (the ones that came with your muffin mix) and raspberry
preserves-- the fruit literally jumping off your tongue and biting you in the nose
|
….BUT…dontworryboutit,
just enjoy it for what it is, a fun wine with no pretense or
potential food match to stress you out. Wine was meant to
be simply enjoyed and shared.
Leave the aftershave upstairs and the
cardamom in the cabinet.
